Growing up in a small town outside of Toronto, Canada, Michelle always dreamed of working in film. After completing her BA at Queen’s University, she travelled to New York City where she received her graduate degree from NYU. Finding herself editing many of her fellow students projects, it wasn’t long before she knew that the editing room was where she should be.
While in New York, she started her editing career assisting on documentaries at Maysles Films. She soon jumped into features working with luminary feature editors Dede Allen and Craig McKay. During that time, she also worked closely with directors Barbet Shroeder and Paul Schrader as well as with Kimberly Peirce on “Boys Don’t Cry”.
Now living in Los Angeles, Michelle has continued to edit both documentary and feature films. Her collaboration with Kimberly Peirce resumed on the “Carrie” remake in 2013. Other current feature credits include “Salt”, “The Immigrant” and “Naomi and Ely’s No Kiss List”. Most recently she edited “Cake”. A feature directed by Daniel Barnz and starring Jennifer Aniston, that opened to a standing ovation at the 2014 Toronto International Film Festival.
